Here are the 5 reasons WHY your kids will LOVE the Monterey Bay Aquarium 🐋✨
✋🏻 Touch Pools - There are a couple of different areas for this. One option includes starfish, crabs, kelp, shark eggs, urchins, etc. There are people there to help and teach the kids along the way. The next is in a different area and is a huge area to touch the stingrays. My kids are awestruck each visit here.
🌊 Open Sea Exhibit - I saw the open sea exhibit but honestly, I mean all of the tanks. The Open Sea Exhibit in particular is an E X P E R I E N C E - it is the biggest “tank” I have ever seen, with fish ranging in sizes and species. But throughout the aquarium, there are various tanks with viewing windows so you can really get a sense of the fish and their habitats.
🪼 The Jellyfish - There is a whole wing dedicated to various jellyfish. This area is darkened, so just be aware ahead of time; sometimes it can be a bit of an adjustment for the smaller kids. This particular exhibit is possibly my favorite - they are magical looking. The kids are always awestruck to see the vibrant colors and variety.
🐧 The Penguins - These critters are always so interactive with the onlookers. They are so fun to watch, and the kids can see them above and below the water. This is a must-see.
🎠 Play Areas - So, I hate to break it to you, but this, without a shadow of a doubt, will be your kids’ favorite. The planners of the aquarium must really have a thumb on the pulse of what kids want because they have various ones throughout the aquarium. It also is nice for parents because they are strategically placed so you can give your kids a bit of a break, and therefore make the trip last longer without breakdowns. :-)
🦦 Bonus - The Otters - Okay, I have to mention the otters. They are one of the first exhibits you see, and this will just set the stage for your kids. The exhibit is two stories tall, and your kids can view the otters play, eat, and swim. A must-see!
