County eases into phase 2
"Today, the County of Santa Cruz Health Official Dr.Gail Newel has issued a new Health Order allowing early Stage 2 activities to proceed aligning the County with any future State action to remove restrictions under the statewide Stay at Home Order. This order will expire July 1st.
The Order, effective at 11:59pm tonight, will allow office workspaces, in-store retail, religious services and cultural ceremonies, protests and outdoor museums to resume. Telework is still strongly encouraged where possible, but following state guidance office spaces may reopen. Childcare is now available for children of workers and volunteers in al sectors. In-store retail operation should follow State Guidance for retail establishments, and follow/ post local guidance under our Health Order. In-person Religious services and political protests must limit to 25 percent of capacity or to 100 persons (whichever is fewer). Both must also comply to social distancing protocols.

Dine-in restaurants remain subject to approval of the State Variance, which the County plans to submit to the State June 2nd pending approval of the Board of Supervisors. The order maintains language on beach closures from 11am-5pm and restrictions on hotels/motels/vacation rentals to log the purposes of customers lodging at their establishments.
